Will we see character variants from the first Garden Warfare in Garden Warfare 2?

Yes, almost all the character variants from the original Garden Warfare will return. The only exception being the four promotional characters: Berry Shooter, Citrus Cactus, Chester Chomper and Dr. Chester. There will also be new variants of the classes from the first Garden Warfare.

How does progression work?
Each of the 100+ character variants has their own progression. Now you can explore and play with a variety of characters and level them up along the way.

Who are the new characters on the plants side?
The plants have 3 new character classes to reinforce the front lines. They are:

Kernel Corn

The Kernel is ready to take the fight to the zombies. What he lacks in a sense of humor, he makes up for with attitude, and dual Cob Busters.

Primary Weapon
Cob Busters – What’s better than a fully-automatic corn cob blaster that explodes into popcorn? How about two!

Abilities
Butter Barrage – Throw down a steaming hot potato, then stand back and watch as Corn Bombers fly overhead and drop hot Butter Bombs on the battlefield.
Husk Hop – Let the power of corn propel you onward and upward as you rain kernels down on those below.
Shuck Shot – Charge up and unleash fury with two explosive, rocket-propelled corn cobs.

Rose

Rose is an extremely powerful sorceress who had a vision of a Zombie-controlled future. Determined to prevent this from coming to pass, she travelled forward in time to Suburbia to change the tide of battle.

Primary Weapon
Magic Thistles – These pesky magic thorns automatically seek out targets, attach to them, and then explode!

Abilities
Time Snare – Conjures a giant magic sphere that distorts time and temporarily binds those caught in its blast.
Arcane Enigma – Transform yourself into a being of pure energy, move faster than normal, become invincible, and deal damage to anyone foolish enough to get in your way.
Goatify – Hmm, better just try this one out for yourself.

Citron

Citron is a time-travelling bounty hunter from the future… and also an orange. His one of a kind transformation ability allows him to get into the action faster than any other Plant, then instantly transform to attack mode for maximum effectiveness!

Primary Weapon
Orange Laser – Orange Beam - Firing a bio-organic stream of orange plasma, this beam is both delicious and nutritious.

Abilities
EMPeach – Specifically designed to take down the Imp and his Z-Mech, this little guy will stun any Zombie in range, but is extra effective versus Z-Mechs.
Citron Mode – Change from battle mode to Citron mode at any time! While in Citron mode, charge up a super-fast and super-powerful spin dash attack.
Energy Shield – Deploy a one-way energy shield that absorbs all incoming damage, but still allows you to shoot through.

Who are the new characters on the zombie side?
The zombies’ side has been beefed up also, with 3 new character classes:

Super Brainz

This hero has an offensive option for every occasion. Need to make an entrance and smash your way to victory? His three-hit punch combo has you covered. Need to make your mark from a distance? Look no further than his awesome hand laser.

Primary Weapon.
Cause mayhem up close with Heroic Fist– and blast the plants away from afar with the Heroic Fist Laser.

Abilities
Heroic Kick  – Close the distance with this flying kick, and send the plants flying!
Super Ultra Ball – A powerful ranged attack that will knock the petals off any plant unlucky enough to be in its way.
Turbo Twister  – Super Brains becomes a whirlwind of destruction, knocking back and damaging the plants with a barrage of fists and amazing hair.

Captain Deadbeard

The zombies’ long-range expert. Don’t let his crusty appearance fool you – this peg-legged captain has a trick weapon up his sleeve, which allows for pinpoint accuracy at long range, and a devastating blast up close. Yarr!

Primary Weapon.
A rapid firing Spy Glass Shot at long range, with a powerful Scurvy Scatter Shot blast for close encounters.

Abilities
Parrot Pal
- Take to the skies with this Z-Tech modified parrot. Kitted out with a laser for an eye and Egg-plosive Airstrikes, you’ll pack quite a wallop from afar.

Cannon Rodeo – Hop on and ride a massive canon that fires explosive canon balls in devastating salvos!

Barrel Blast – If it all gets too much, hide inside the protection of your exploding barrel.  Really.

Imp & Z-Mech

The smallest and most agile of the zombies, Imp can double-jump, hover, and giggle his way to victory. Two automatic Imp Blasters don’t hurt either.

Primary Weapon

Imp Blasters – These rapid firing blasters pack quite a punch.

Abilities
Impkata – Go wild and unleash the Imps full firepower - dual welding his blasters in a 360-degree arc of mayhem.
Gravity Grenade – Lob it to hold your targets in place, and set them up for great team play vanquishes.
Robo Call – ‘Nuff said!

The Z-Mech is built with Z-Tech. Massive size, massive health, and massive damage are at your disposal as you unleash Imp’s secret weapon.

Primary Weapon.
Robo Laser – This heavy-duty laser lays down a lot of firepower with its high rate of fire. Plants beware!

Abilities
Robo Stomp  – Put your foot down with this massively damaging close quarters attack!
Missile Madness – Launches a devastating barrage of Z-Tech missiles that deals area damage.
